Softball Starts in Greater Kansas City Tournament

By: Hunter Donelson

Varsity softball played in the Greater Kansas City tournament this weekend and had many things to take away from their performances. The Patriots were playing in the Gold bracket, something they haven’t been able to get to since pitching phenom, Paige Parker took the country by storm.

In the first game, Truman jumped on Belton early and took home an easy 11-3 win. In the second game on Saturday morning, the Patriots had a repeat performance and blasted Lee’s Summit 9-0.

Monday night, the Patriots found themselves down against Pleasant Hill, but slowly started to come back at the end of the game. Even with the late push, they fell short, losing 9-8. Later in the night, it almost seemed like the team had just become over-fatigued, losing to Lee’s Summit North 6-2.

Truman took the field again last night to cap off their Greater Kansas City tournament with a win against Kearney High School, 6-4.
