The Rundown: First Football Game

By: Hunter Donelson

Friday night may not have been a night to remember from a fan’s perspective, but it was a great learning experience for our Patriots football team.

“There are always things you can learn and improve on so understanding that and realizing we will only get better helps us keep our heads up,” said starting quarterback Carter Brown.

The Patriots suffered a 55-6 loss against the defending state champions, Staley. The game started out with back-to-back three and outs for the Patriots offense, while on the other side, the defense gave up two opening touchdowns.

In the second quarter, quarterback Carter Brown hit senior receiver Don Edmundson for the first, and only, touchdown of the season thus far.

The rest of the game was much of the same as the offense couldn’t seem to get in rhythm and our defense couldn’t come up with any stops.

The Patriots hope to come out this Friday night at Liberty North and prove that this won’t be the same team we will be watching all season.
