Track season has started at Truman High School once again with their first meet yesterday. JV had their meet yesterday at Blue Springs, last night it was very cold night. All the Truman athletes came and gave it their all or supported one or another. Most of them came away with new personal best at the meet yesterday. Some of the nice looking highlights include a 1st place finish in the 400 meter by freshmen Kennedy Rucker as well as with a 1st place finish in the 200 meter. And right behind her was her teammate, freshman Laila Tatum, who finished in 3rd place in the 200 meter but won her heat easily. But not only that Tatum finished 4th place in high jump. Also, sophomore Victoria Pendergist finished 4th in the 300m hurdles.
On the boys side sophomore Nathan Lewis led the way in the mile most of the time but eventually wound up in 4th place. As you can see they didn’t do too shabby, but there is plenty of room to improve for their next meet in Belton. Coach Summers said, “Not too bad for their first meet but need improvement and hopefully will see that in Belton but I’m proud of all the new kids working hard.”
