Varsity baseball played St.Michael’s Thursday night and had their way with them from the beginning. The final score resulted in a 25-2 blowout win for the Patriots.
With some long-ball hitting, Nick Wheeler, Josh Cruz, and Tanner Blau knocked back-to-back-to-back home runs early on in the game that put the Patriots up 20-1 going into the third inning.
But it didn’t end there. In the third inning Nate Camby and Josh Patrick smashed home runs to run the tally up to a total of 5 homers for the Patriots.
Hitting wasn’t the only thing that got Truman the win though. According to gotruman.com, the Patriots had a couple of defensive errors that led to runs for St.Michael’s. Besides that pitcher Alex Khan tossed a complete game while only giving up 1 hit to opposing batters.
It was definitely the game the Patriots were looking for. “Hopefully this is the confidence builder we needed as we move forward into our season,” said Coach Lathrom.
The Patriots have a few games next week including games at Winnetonka (Monday) and at Park Hill South (Wednesday). Then another one Thursday evening against Lee’s Summit North as their home opener.
