It’s a big weekend on the mats for the Patriots wrestling team. They are competing in districts to determine which wrestlers will continue their season at the state tournament. The entire team is preparing for this one, and it’s especially significant for seniors.
For seniors like Kaine Williams this could be their last chance to make it to state. It could also mark their final weekend of wrestling in high school. After four years on the mat for Truman it’s clear that Williams is one of the most talented wrestlers on the team, and for him a victory at the district tournament would signify a fitting end to a brilliant career.
“What i want to get out of districts is to go make it to state,” Kaine said. “To me wrestling at state would mean a lot to me because that means my hard work paid off, and that I would accomplish what everyone knew I could do.”
With the finish line in sight and the ultimate goal in reach Williams knows he’ll need to be at his best to check off one last milestone in his storied wrestling career.
