Truman’s varsity football team defeated St. Joe Central 51-48 Friday, Sept. 24th. The season started a little rough but Truman has made huge bounds forward. The defense is growing stronger as time passes.
“I think now the team has began taking pride in their games and at practice and it has definitely began to show,” junior, Aaron Lehman, shares after the game. “Or at least I have.”
The game started off slow with Central building a 48-36 lead. But, with a little sleight of hand Truman came back and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
“Without the offensive line the game wouldn’t have been so good. They gave gaps to me and all the running backs so that we could get through and put some points up.” Lehman added.
Truman’s quarterback, Lehman, had an outstanding game. He piled up 241 yards including a 15-yard run put Truman into the redzone and led to a touchdown that trimmed Central’s lead to just six. Truman now stands at 3-3 on the year and will play at Battle on Friday.
