Tips on Senior Pictures

BY ISABELLA BEELER

Are you going to be a senior soon? If so, this is for you! I’m almost done with my senior year and I’ve been taking pictures all throughout the year. I’m almost done and thought I would give some tips. A lot of seniors take pictures to send to family and friends and/or post on social media. Some take a lot and some take a little. It’s just a fun senior year activity and can help you remember stuff you accomplished and how you looked during senior year. You can have them done by professionals or family members plus you can take them in fun locations.

Normally senior pictures consist of cap and gown pictures, pictures that show your sport or activity, pictures in your high school or college merch, and pictures in dress clothes. You can also choose outfits in your favorite colors. Many senior pictures consisted of many dresses, Truman merch, and dance pictures. I have been dancing since I was five and took pictures with all my dance costumes over the years. I post them for “Senior Sundays” like a lot of others do. My mom took my pictures in the summer, fall, winter and spring plus I had them done at school by Strawbridge during the summer.

When I took senior pictures, I went to a lot of pretty locations. Many people reading this live in KC, so I’m going to talk about my favorite picture spots. My first favorite location was the Sunflower fields. When the sunset was next to all the flowers, it was really pretty. The flowers can also be your prop. You can even remove the sunflower seeds to make cute designs. The only problem with this location is that sunflowers are only in bloom for a few weeks in August/September. I wanted to take pictures in the Tulip fields in April, but we waited too late. My next favorite location was “Powell Gardens”. There are a lot of flowers there almost all year. There are also pretty fountains there. I also really liked the location “Museum at Prairiefire”. I took a picture in front of the colorful, stained glass walls outside the museum. “The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art” and “The Kauffman Gardens” are also pretty locations. Speaking of downtown, more locations are “Kauffman Center” and the library. There are books you can sit on by the library downtown. The last locations are all of the schools you’ve gone to with your cap and gown. It is really cute to take pictures in front of your elementary school.

Those are all my tips on senior pictures. Now you have ideas on locations and what to wear. You don’t have to take as much as I did. You can do a few or not at all, too. You can also do more than me. It is just for you and your family for fun. I hope you have fun taking pictures and a great “Senior Season”.
