Midwest Weather…Anything But Consistent

BY ISABELLA BEELER

In the Midwest, you can wear shorts on a Monday, need a jacket on Tuesday, then wear shorts again on Wednesday. The weather changes a lot. It can go from hot to cold in just a few days. Sometimes in a few hours. This can wreak havoc on people with seasonal allergies. people with seasonal allergies. The weather changes are also crazy in each season. Sometimes you can get winter in the spring and summer in the fall. Spring and fall are almost non-existent.

A lot of people have seasonal allergies. When the weather changes, it makes people have sore throats, runny noses, and other sinus problems. The allergies are especially bad when the weather keeps changing.

This year, the summer has been kind of long. We have been able to wear shorts in the fall. Now this week it is getting cold. It is still fall, but almost coat weather. Last week it was jacket and short sleeve weather. The weather changed dramatically. It’s tough to enjoy any one season when the only thing consistent about the weather is its inconsistency.

The weather also goes up and down, a good amount, throughout the day. On Wednesday this week, it was 33 degrees in the morning, but 50-60 degrees in the afternoon/evening. In fact, if we take it back just a few days the temperature went from record highs in the 90s and then dropped to around freezing in less than a week. A lot of the time, you go to work or school in a jacket, then leave in short sleeve weather. Many kids don’t want to carry their jacket around throughout the day, so they are either cold in the morning without a jacket or hot in the afternoon with one.

The weather is crazy!
