Pick 1: Caleb Williams, Chicago
It seems like all of the attempts to assassinate Williams’s character have been unsuccessful. This is simply one of the best prospects to come out of college. His off-platform throwing ability is unmatched with arm strength that is only comparable to Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. This will be seen as a win before Williams even takes his first snap. It doesn’t need an in depth explanation
Pick 2: Jayden Daniels, Washington
Washington has been looking for a franchise guy for years,. They got flashes of the with RG3 and Kirk Cousins in the 2010’s. Both unfortunately didn’t meet Washington’s expectations. New ownership is aware that fans are tired of old free agents and being hopeful for someone to want to come to Washington. I believe Daniels will be the perfect guy to revitalize the fan base. His passing ability has a few issues with his awareness and lack of dumping the pass when it isn’t there, although his scrambling ability is only comparable to Lamar Jackson, who is possibly the greatest dual threat quarterback to exist.
Pick 3: Drake Maye, New England Patriots
Fortunate to be rid of Mac Jones, new Head Coach Jerod Mayo will be able to take a guy who has serious potential to be special. Maye stretches the field with his ability to move the ball, he can hit receivers 50 yards down the field in stride. He has his issues with his internal timer and how he reacts to broken plays, he definitely forces the ball in moments where he simply doesn’t need to. We’ve seen quarterbacks that have these issues and get them solved. The biggest issue is the Patriots need to let him learn. The ideal situation for Maye would be to sit him behind a bridge quarterback.
Pick 4: Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals
The highest graded player in this draft is MHJ, certainly if you aren’t in need of a quarterback you have to get the best player. After losing Deandre Hopkins they haven’t had a premier wide receiver or a guy that has drawn the attention of other teams, and Harrison can be a game changer. He will be the main focus of opposing defenses, and if you watch him play you’ll see it. He is a route technician, unbelievable vertical and a bigger catch radius than receivers taller than him. It just is an obvious pick for them.
Pick 5: JJ McCarthy, Minnesota (Trade)
It seems like the move to get a second first round pick was for them to trade up for the quarterback that they want. The issue with this is, I think if they are really infatuated with McCarthy it seems they can get him at 11. But, I know McCarthy is liked by a lot.
Pick 6: Malik Nabers, New York ( G )
I think New York is tired of Daniel Jones, but they won’t be able to take a guy up here and will ride Daniel Jones out for another year. Nabers creates separation off the snap, presses him and he will probably catch a touchdown. He also finds soft spots in zones, which is an ability that some NFL vets don’t even have. He will develop into a WR1 pretty easily with the giants having one of the worst wide receiver rooms in the NFL.
Pick 7: Joe Alt, Tennessee
Tennessee is in full rebuild right now, and they will secure a guy that has only let up two sacks in the last three years. Alt was the cornerstone of Notre Dame’s program this year and wasn’t letting pressures be given up. A hardworking, great attitude, good ethics type of guy to come in and bring a fresh change to what has been an abysmal offensive line that hasn’t been able to catch its breath since their 2019 AFC championship run.
Pick 8: Dallas Turner, Atlanta
Atlanta wasn’t going to leave their quarterback situation up to the draft, they gave Kirk Cousins the money and longevity in his contract. I can imagine the efficiency of Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson and a competent quarterback. All they need to do is make their defense somewhat competitive. Turner is the top rated pass rusher in the draft and his power is unbelievable for an edge, he also is 6 ‘3 247 pounds and also has a coverage upside because his frame and speed allows him to.
Pick 9: Rome Odunze, Chicago
A good physical upside for chicago, they have speed already with DJ Moore and will need a guy that they can target for a 50/50 ball. Not that DJ Moore can’t catch those, but it is a lot to put onto one player. Odunze has struggled to get separation at times, but he makes up for that with his bump and run ability and his hands are certified. Williams will make plays that other guys can’t make simply due to the fact that he can catch over premier corners
Pick 10: Brock Bowers, New York ( J )
Although a lot of teams would take a tackle here, Brock is a star and if the Jets are going to make a one-year run they’re going to take as much star power as they can get. Rodgers hasn’t ever had a game changer tight-end and that is the only way to describe Bowers. His ability to get yards after the catch is like a play making wide receiver.
Pick 11: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Los Angeles ( C ) (Trade Via Min)
Jim Harbaugh has been known for his pro-style, heavy-run offense and leaned towards the outside zone. Fashanu is a beast who runs people over and can pass-block at a great rate, he may struggle at first but he definitely has the ability to be a top 10 tackle. They could take Nabers here, I just think Harbaugh values the run first and he definitely seems like the type to believe if you can’t run effectively you won’t win effectively
Pick 12: Troy Fautanu, Dallas (Trade via Den)
It makes sense for Dallas to want to get a top tackle and Denver will be able to get the quarterback they want. They’re in cap hell to the max. Dallas let Tyron Smith walk and Fautanu is huge and an instant plug and play tackle. He shouldn’t have trouble with Dallas who probably won’t be able to run the ball well.
Pick 13: Quinyon Mitchell, Las Vegas
Mitchell is the best cornerback in this draft. He didn’t have to be the fastest in the 40 or anything along those lines. He jumps when it is needed and uses his reach to pull the ball away from receivers, he also has a knack for slapping the ball down when he has no chance of catching it. His ability to read players and they’re coverages.
Pick 14: Taliese Fuaga, New Orleans
New Orleans made a splash last season by signing veteran Derek Carr. He struggled in the first year not being protected and losing plays due to them being sped up by pressures. Fuaga is more of a run blocker, but they’ll be able to plug and play him and he is better than some starting tackles.
Pick 15: Quinyon Mitchell, Indianapolis
This draft is very much corner heavy but this is the best all around corner in college football, he is extremely quick and has a knack for getting his hand on the ball. He is definitely an instant upgrade for the corners in Indianapolis. He is speedy and can get up to challenge any receiver.
Pick 16: Jer’Zhan Newton, Seattle
Seattle has a great young defense that just keeps building, but they struggle hard with stopping the run up the middle. Their defensive line is something that hasn’t been solid for years, and you don’t want to spend a first on a defensive tackle. But it has gotten to the point where teams offensive lines are only getting better.
Pick 17: Amarius Mims, Washington (Trade Via Jax)
Washington as of now has no right tackle on the depth chart. Jacksonville is seen as the winner of free agency after getting splash guys and building a roster around Trevor Lawrence. Washington has the draft capital to trade up to a pick. While I do see Jacksonville liking someone with this pick they can get good rookies early in the second round.
Pick 18: JC Latham, Cincinnati
This one seems easy to say, keep drafting offensive linemen till they stick. Reasonably they’ll take a guy who was dominant at Alabama and was a total unit at tackle. It makes sense that Cincinnati takes Latham
Pick 19: Laiatu Latu, Los Angeles ( R )
Latu is dominant on the edge and won’t have to go far to be with his team, In drafts teams look for players that other teams will have to gameplan for. Latu was that guy in college 13 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions. Just an absolute freak of an athlete.
Pick 20: Brian Thomas Jr., Pittsburgh ???
Justin Fields or Russell Wilson, it doesn’t matter. Pittsburgh has a team on defense that really only needs the offense to just be capable, they let go of Diontae Johnson and will have a hole at wide receiver. They will probably be a run heavy team with Arthur Smith being the newly instated offensive coordinator…
Pick 21: Byron Murphy II, Miami
You can’t fill the hole of Christian Wilkins who got a massive payday in Las Vegas, but you can try to bolster your defensive line. It seems they will get a plug up, run disruptor guy with Murphy II. Miami is trying to build this defense so they can hang and out shoot top teams in the AFC. They have to get over the hump that is Buffalo who used free agency to build their offensive line.
Pick 22: Jared Verse, Philadelphia
A guy that seems to have fallen in the draft, He was the best player on ACC Champion roster, Verse a guy who is always out for blood when he lines up on the outside. He overwhelms tackles with his blend of speed and power and forces blockers to make business decisions on what they do.
Pick 23: Xavier Worthy., Los Angeles ( C ) (Trade Via Min)
A lot of people don’t fall for the trap of being the speediest receiver in the draft but I think Los Angeles is in a lacking receiver room where they didn’t pick up one from free agency. Worthy has potential to be great as he was a speedster for the Longhorns and was one of Ewers favorite targets. His ceiling is Tyreek Hill but his floor he could end up being John Ross, the guy who held the previous 40 yard dash record.
Pick 24: Bo Nix, Denver (Trade Via Dallas)
Bo Nix isn’t first round talent, he had one of the best offensive lines in college football, struggled to improvise and his accuracy hasn’t necessarily improved. He is like the last QB on many people’s boards which makes it make sense
Pick 25: Tyler Guyton, Green Bay
Green Bay just let go of David Baktiari and will need to address their line for their up and coming quarterback, who put the league on notice with his play last year. He is a few pieces away from being a contender. They got Josh Jacobs, developing receivers and a decent line. Guyton is a good run blocker and his size will help him easily transition into to the pros
Pick 26: Terrion Arnold, Tampa Bay
Tampa has Antoine Winfield and Jamel Dean who are both great at disrupting the pass but they need another guy that they won’t have to worry about the pass. Arnold has a great versatile skill set that will let him be able to do whatever they need him to do.
Pick 27: Chop Robinson, Arizona
I think if you look purely at stats Robinson is a second rounder, but watch the tape and you’ll see a simply dominant guy on the edge. I don’t know what they have in the water at Penn st but they are creating defensive monsters. Chop Robinson is easily the most athletic edge in this draft and he has a motor that will easily let him be a gamechanger for Arizona.
Pick 28: Xavier Legette, Buffalo
They let go of Gabe Davis and are constantly having to defend when stefon diggs does his yearly “I hate where I’m at” instagram post. I think Legette will be Josh Allens first true speedster that he’ll get. Legette is great at taking the top off of defenses and will not only get the ball but help provide opportunities for other receivers to be able to be open, he’ll draw safeties out of their zone and force teams to make decisions that will help make a great offense even greater.
Pick 29: Nate Wiggins, Detroit
The Lions were 15 minutes away from a trip to the Superbowl last year, and Detroit wants to bolster the team they currently have. Cam Sutton is great but they need a guy with the ability to run with guys and make sure his ability to press on pressure plays. Wiggins was the fastest corner in the draft, even though he injured himself which seems like it could be an issue he will be a good fit.
Pick 30: Darius Robinson, Baltimore
Baltimore is losing Jadeveon Clowney in free agency and he was a major guy on this 2023 team. They’ve tried to fill out their edges for years and can’t seem to keep the same star guy there which I’m assuming they will fill with robinson. Robinson has a long wingspan and the ability to counter when his first pass rush moves fail this lets him explode into the backfield despite his lack of speed
Pick 31: Cooper Dejean, San Francisco
Honestly, Cooper Dejean is like a swiss army knife of a player he can really do anything you ask of him and more. He could be drafted higher but I think san francisco will see him and put him at any role that they’re lacking including corner and a good punt returner.
Pick 32: Adonai Mitchell, Kansas City
Most drops in the NFL last year, the back to back reigning superbowl champions will want to get a guy on the other side of standout rookie Rashee Rice and Mitchell seems to be that guy. Mitchell said on twitter that Patrick Mahomes has reached out to him as of lately it seems like they’ll get their lone star wide receiver one
