Coach Stough Moves On

BY LIAM KEITH

Truman’s head football coach, Robert Stough, is stepping down from his role as coach and teacher. Stough has coached Truman for the last two years and won’t come back for next season. In an early morning tweet he announced his resignation and described all the progress he made off the field in his tenure. Throughout his last two years at Truman he has a record of 2-18 and his two wins were against class 4 opponent, Southeast High School

His accomplishments may have not been on the field, producing several collegiate athletes and getting several players to buy into his offseason community service initiative. Getting 22 football players to come out and rake around 65 bags of leaves in local communities around Truman. Note, that was done during the Thanksgiving break and getting guys to come on their break and help out is definitely not an easy task to do. 33 players met the goal of the 10 community service hours, totaling up to over 1100 community service hours.

This change wasn’t taken lightly as some players that bought into his program were hurt by the resignation and will have to shift into another coaching system. Juniors will be onto their third head coach in their last year. Nothing will fully capture the tenure as it has been so shortened. We thank you for your time, Coach Stough.
