Truman Girls’ Blowout Their Noland Road Rivals

Coach Page and the Lady Pats kick off their season with a 6-4 record throughout their first ten games. After winning two straight games on the road by 20+ points, the Patriots took on Chrisman on December 14th at home during rivalry week. The ladies ultimately prevailed, defeating Chrisman by a whopping score of 57-22. Senior Layla Scott led the way, outscoring the entire Chrisman team by herself with a typical 29 points, with 15 coming from three-pointers. Layla continues to make a tear on teams all across the metro. After her came Senior GraceAnn Brunk with seven points and Junior Julia Schultz with six points. This team works together to capitalize and earn victories no matter who scores. With this victory, the Lady Pats brought home their wagon wheel trophy and a year’s worth of bragging rights.

Four days later, Coach Page and his team would face Kearney at home, where they would pull out a 59-48 victory. Layla Scott again led the way with 34 points on seven three-pointers made. This game will live in Layla’s mind forever as she scored her 1000th point in her high school career. Julia Schultz had eight points on the night, as well as Reagan Thomas with seven points. Head coach Jim Page and the Lady Pats will continue their season with momentum going into the 12 Counts of Christmas tournament starting on December 20th vs Blue Springs.
